Please, I am begging you, let me rebind the controls. WASD-IJKL wasn't acceptable when FromSoft tried it back in 2012, and it isn't now. For reference, in a game without mouse control like this, most players expect what I call "Emulator Standard" - arrow keys and ZXC. Also, the attack is too short to reliably hit enemies, and doesn't linger long enough as well. Please offer more resolutions, there's no reason not to offer 2k and 4k support, it's literally just math. Finally, let me jump onto stairs please, even the original Castlevania let me do that, it makes stairs incredibly frustrating.


The art is good, and there is a good game buried here, but damn is it Death of a Thousand Cuts.

Regarding button remapping, the methods we used in Unity don't make this easy for us, so we're having a hard time trying to achieve this.

Regarding the attack, we tried it in other ways, and in some situations the game was too easy, so the current range and time were the ways we found to be most in line with the difficulty standard we planned as game designers.

Regarding the resolution, since we don't have equipment that can reach this resolution, we can't really say that it's working at this resolution in a way that maintains the quality of our images.

Stairs, I believe we'll be able to make this change in the next update.

The art scales fine from 480p through 1080p, there is literally no reason it would suddenly not scale right through 4k. And I'm pretty sure you can automate resolution detection to future-proof the game. As far as controls go, even if you can't make them rebindable (which I really doubt) at least change the defaults to the controls suggested. I'm not kidding when I say WASD-IJKL controls are the least intuitive, unusable controls possible. It seriously doesn't work. Arrow keys to move, X jumps, Z is main attack, subweapon on either Up+Attack like the original games, or C, and sex on C or V.

 Game is a 3.5-4 out of 5 stars and with 2-3 hours of content (maybe a bit less if you are better than me xD) definitely worth the price. In my opinion it is in the top 3 when it comes to pixel games on this site. I am curious about 2 things regarding the story tho: 1. What happened with the bosses we defeated. Did they survive the destruction of the castle or did they go down with it? 2. Was the ending hinting at a possible sequel to this game?

So yes, we are planning to make a sequel to the game

Now that we've released the first part, we know a bit more about what you guys like

So we're going to try even harder to make the sequel even more fun, if you know what I mean

Unfortunately I will have to pass on the sequel since, based on the ending of this game, it will mostly if not only have futa related NSFW scenes and that is just not my cup of tea. But I do know at least 2 people that are into that sort of thing and thus will definitely recommend this game to them and tell them about its future sequel.

I understand, the plans for the sequel are not a futa, but she suffers from gender change, planned to be related to a curse, in the morning she remains normal, and at night she becomes a man, we are still thinking about how we will work on this in the future.

But our next game will be in the same Castle of Vania universe, but it will be something like Pokemon with Metroidvania.

Oh,  I thought the curse turned her into a futa at the end of the game, my mistake then.^^ That gender change based on the time of day is an interesting concept.

So your next game won't be the direct sequel, but more of a side game taking place in the same universe and a "Pokemon with Metroidvania" at that?  So similar to the game "Monster Sanctuary", but with a Castle of Vania flavor.  That does sound pretty good tbh.

I also appreciate it that you actually reply to all my comments. I'm probably starting to annoy you at this point with all my questions.^^

I also asked them about this and they meant that they would start selling it through their Patreon. On the day it was released on Steam (and a bunch of failed attempts to bypass the region lock on my part xD) I asked when they would start selling it through their Patreon and they replied with: "By next week we will release a version to sell outside of Steam, we intend to "clean up" the game by removing any Steam links from it.". 6 Days later they announced that they would take a break until 4/28, but unfortunately they have not returned as of yet.

My GF suggested I play it because I love MetroidVanias, so I did and it was fun.

What I'd like to see changed: 

- Stairs are called ladders, which is strange, also you use them by pressing UP or DOWN, but can only move on them using LEFT or RIGHT. 

In Castlevania, you're usually able to use UP or DOWN to move on stairs and I'd like to do that here as well.

- The cow boss hitbox made it feel impossible to jump over her without taking damage, even as an experienced MV player.

- The fuckable rock guy doesn't seem to attack in response to the player, but just on a rhythm, which feels strange. 

- The bats are occasionally super annoying

- Make the whip slightly more visible. I wasn't always sure of my range, which could probably be easier to see by increasing the contrast slightly.


What I enjoyed: 

- The graphic style is fun and cute and hot 

- The gameplay was genuinely fun and there were moments I forgot I was playing a porn game because it felt so Castlevania-y

- The music felt like a fun imitation of Castlevania music, which was funny, but also actually sounded nice

- I could use my controller! I'm genuinely excited that that worked already. 

- The story is really fucking funny.


All in all, I had a great time, thank you for making this game. 

I don't know if you're planning on translating it into more languages, but I'd be up for helping with German if I have the time :) cheers

Wow, we didn’t expect someone to have so much fun that they momentarily forgot it's a hentai game!

We don’t have plans for a German translation at the moment, as the game was banned in Germany on Steam.

i think you're supposed to avoid the rock throw attack by using the consumable ranged attack but i died on the first go and wasn't going to re do the whole thing just to be able to safely damage the boss

Not a bad little demo. I couldn't really see a reason to use the whip outside of breaking things. Once i got the axe it was the only thing I used. Seems more like the whip is an afterthought as opposed to the main weapon.

I love how this demo looks, very promising but I found a lot of bugs, some of them very understandable but some others like the hitboxes that doesn't make sense were pretty infuriating to be honest

I know this is just a demo and this whings are going to be fixed in the future, I wish you all luck with the project

Could you tell us which hitboxes you found strange?

mainly the hitboxes of the minotaur girl, when she launches against you the hitbox is bigger than her sprite and you receive a hit even when it doesn't look like you did

whip attacking while stepping off the stairs can result in an infinite attack loop until stairs are climbed again
